1. When a guest speaker cancels last minute:
We plan and we plan and we plan, but sometimes unexpected cancellations happen. After arranging for a speaker to come in and broadcasting the news to all your attendees, panic ensues after getting that dreaded phone call from a speaker informing you that they won’t be coming. Meep :/
2. When a guest RSVPs yes but doesn’t show up:
There’s nothing more frustrating than when you put all this hard work into an event, and someone doesn’t show up. *Sigh* Hard work gone to waste. We all know the feeling, but don’t fret, there are plenty of other attendees who will show up to take it all in!
3. Staying up ‘till 4 a.m. the night before the event:
There’s so much to do! All #eventprofs have stayed up to unspeakable hours in order to make sure everything goes smoothly, whether it be sprucing up a presentation or writing out name tags – should’ve gone digital.
4. When you overhear attendees talk about how much they’re enjoying your event:
Not that we condone eavesdropping, but if you happen to overhear guests as you’re walking by, that’s okay… right? During the hustle and bustle of an event, when you’re running back and forth between guest speakers and presentations to make sure everything is going smoothly, it’s always nice to hear that you’re doing a good job. There’s no better motivation than being reminded of why you’re doing all this!
5. When someone brings me a coffee:
After staying up all night and being super busy for weeks, that one beautiful person who surprises you with a steaming cup of coffee becomes your favorite person in the entire world.
6. When you get great post-event feedback:
What’s better than hard work paying off? It’s so gratifying to see that attendees enjoyed the event or even better, when they found it useful and enjoyable.
7. When a guest is unhappy:
All #eventprofs have had to deal with that one difficult guest. It seems like no matter what you do, they simply cannot be satisfied. Though you’ll try to work your event planning magic, at the end of the day it might just be easier to order them to be happy.
